The sweet, resonant sound of the Renaissance
lute brings to life Scotland's "golden age"
of lute music. This CD, one of I-Tunes' most
downloaded lute releases, features lush
arrangements with the 15 strings of the
lute, an ancestor of the guitar. The
majority of compositions are by the
legendary Scottish lutenist Rory McClendon.
It was said his compositions were so
touchingly beautiful "birds would be charmed
out of the trees," when he played outdoors.

Southwest. This album delves into the heart
of these celebrations with a series of
festive, melodious pieces that feature the
nylon-string guitar as a central instrument.
Several of the tunes are traditional songs
dedicated to the Virgin of Guadalupe such as
De Colores, Golondrinas Para La Virgen and
Mananitas Para La Virgen. Other tunes
include Latino-style versions of Ave Maria
and Jesu Joy of Man s Desiring. Most of the
tracks also feature accompaniment from the
Mexican harp, marimba button accordion and
percussion.
